I’m so glad you’re considering getting bodywork! I find all challenges in the body can be
improved, often dramatically, and sometimes be resolved completely. What I’ve witnessed
over the years, in clients as well as myself, is that “our biography becomes our biology”.
What I mean by that is, everything we experience in life lands in our tissues. It doesn’t mean it
always sticks around, but sometimes it does.

This could be something as simple as a left ankle sprain sustained 10 years ago, where the
actual injury healed, but left behind a pattern in the body where the fascia in the left leg
continues to tighten, and one day we have chronic left hip pain and don’t know why.

Surgical procedures successfully treat injuries. Yet sometimes the body continues laying down
scar tissue or tightening fascia in the area to protect when it’s no longer needed, and over time
that tightening begins to “anchor” an area of the body creating tension or misalignment.

Perhaps we have neck tension that began with a car accident or a sports injury. There’s no
actual damage to the musculature or skeleton, yet we experience recurring pain. Why? The
body has established an “injury pattern”. At the moment of impact our brain instructs our body
to brace for protection. Although useful at the time, if the feedback loop doesn’t resolve, our
neck continues to have tightness.

Maybe we are experiencing TMJ, a tendency for the muscles of the jaw to tighten.

Or we simply hold stress and tension in the tops of our shoulders!

Perhaps we’ve been through a particularly stressful period of time, and we are experiencing
physical symptoms, tension in the body, difficulties sleeping, anxiety, and so on.

Maybe we work sitting at a computer.

Our biography becomes our biology” just means there’s a story that brings our body to where
it is. It may not be from a major event – just simply the threads of our work and recreational
activities that build up over time. What I often say to clients is – the name of the game is
maintaining space. So often the discomfort we experience in our bodies is simply from lack
of space. Whether the fascia has us shrink wrapped in a certain area, or our muscles are over
tight. We want optimum space between our vertebrae, and in our joints, to support alignment
and function.

We are always training our body, whether we are doing it intentionally or not. The good news is
there are always things we can do to condition it in the direction we would like it to go. And it’s
never too late. Bodywork is one of those ways.

Having practiced massage for 20 years, I’m passionate about unraveling the patterns in the body and creating space. I’ve been a yoga and functional movement person for just as long. If applicable, I may offer suggestions for a stretch or two.

I also offer Craniosacral Therapy, which addresses patterns and limited space in the nervous
system, the cranium and the spine. Often I incorporate a bit of this along with physical work as
needed. Or you can book a dedicated session.

Clients come to me for many reasons. Some to resolve acute issues, others to “clear out the
cobwebs”, as ongoing maintenance and injury prevention. When you’re on my table my goal is
to help you with any physical restrictions or needs of the day, but also to provide an energetic “docking station”, for your nervous system to restore. We live in a fast paced world. We all
need it.

Technically speaking I am trained in: Swedish, Deep Tissue, Myofascial work, Reiki and
Craniosacral Therapy.

I look forward to working with you!

TESTIMONIALS:

Going as an adult to massage therapy for anxiety, ’tism, and physical injury support for decades – I’ve never been as seen, holistically healed, and ‘supported’ as I have in the two years I’ve been worked on by Ms. Pearson. Laura Lee now supports my son with Cranial Sacral Therapy, and I’ve joked to my husband that if she were to relocate, our family would too. She’s skilled, intentional, and committed to your healing – wholehearted recommendation. –S.H. (3/2/25)

Laura Lee is amazing! She listened to what I needed and addressed each area with deep knowledge and great results! –N.D.

The massage 100% lived up to the name of the practice and I will definitely be scheduling again soon! Laura’s intuition with specific areas in need (because of the unique requirements of my job) was unprecedented and left me reminded of what it feels like to not have neck pain. Thank you for your skill and sensitivity! –B.M.

“As a traditionally-trained physician, I have been underwhelmed with
available treatments for my autoimmune arthritis. I have been seeing Mary Justus
for nearly a decade now, and her treatments are by far the single factor
responsible for improving my quality of life. Her energy is finely tuned as a
compassionate, caring and deeply soothing presence. Mary is truly an
    angel.”

I recently had an amazing session with Jo. She was beyond lovely, knowledgeable, and welcoming. I felt entirely comfortable with her and am amazed by the results of our session. I highly recommend her and her healing touch.

Courtney gave what is almost certainly the best massage I’ve ever had. She relieved some horrible pain in my back and neck that had been interrupting my sleep. Then she did a nifty relaxation number on my neck and scalp. Pressure was deep but not painful. She’s a hero 🙂

Restoring Balance is a TREMENDOUS GIFT to the community. From my very first interaction with the team to my regular massages with Kathy, Restoring Balance is simply the best. Highly recommend!

Let’s start with this – the result of the treatment at Restoring Balance was that the next morning I was moving about with far less difficulty and stiffness. I realize now that I was so used to the pain that I’d forgotten what it was like to not have it. Jenn was very attentive and easy to be with. It was clear she had really listened to me explain my problems and was really trying to help me – it was not treatment by rote steps. So I am looking forward to getting back there again soon.

I have been receiving massages from Kathy for the past month. I reached out to her for postpartum care and I am so glad I found her. As an individual, she is gentle and kind and as a massage therapist, she is the best of the best. As a massage therapist, she is incredible. I have felt relief in pains that were even present before pregnancy. She nailed my sciatica pain and gave me so much relief that I hadn’t experienced in Months. I recommend her one hundred percent. You are in safe hands if you work with Kathy!

Kathy is kind and generous and her Thai yoga massage is transformational. I’ve had many massages in the past but none get the knots out like her Thai massage.
